Walk and Talk Sessions

I offer walk and talk counselling here in Edmonton, as an alternative to meeting in-person or online. These sessions are held at Gold Bar Park year-round during daylight hours - with the possibility of meeting online if needed due to weather or illness. Walk and talk sessions are currently available on Wednesdays and Fridays.

Some benefits of being in motion

  • Our bodies are made for movement, and walking is a gentle way to connect with yourself and the world around you

  • The cross-lateral movement of walking supports brain health, and can offer more ease expressing and processing emotions

  • Being in nature supports nervous system health, and allows for observations and metaphors from nature to support you

  • Neurodivergent clients often appreciate how movement offers freedom from physical stillness and any expectations of maintaining eye contact

  • Walking offers a break from long days of sitting still for work or school

  • Being outside in the winter months can support wellness and reduce symptoms of Seasonal Affective Disorder

  • Observing changes in the season by re-visiting the same landscape regularly can be a grounding experience

Themes of anxiety, grief, anger, and stuckness are particularly well suited to walk and talk sessions. We'll walk alongside each other in present-moment awareness and towards new possibilities.

“Move with an awareness that you are worthy of being fully seen by the natural world around you. Move with an awareness that relationship is reciprocal and that there is a wondrous exchange happening between you and what is alive near you.” – From Walk by Jonathon Stalls

Accessibility

I aim for accessibility with each of the session options that I offer. Please reach out if you have any questions or access needs related to walking. Wheelchairs and mobility devices are welcome, and there are benches and bathrooms in the park. Our pace of movement will always be responsive to your needs. Gold Bar Park is located at 10955 50th Street, on Treaty 6 Territory.
